{Part 3} Hiking trip, and Homeward bound!

On the Lord's Day, we went to my grandparents church, and the Joneses church. And then we went back with the Joneses to their house. We prepared a picnic supper, and headed out in the "Burb" {Suburban} to go hiking at Harrison/Crawford State Park. It was SO gorgeous! The trees were changing colors, the weather couldn't have been better, and the park bordered the Ohio river!

On our way, we were held up by traffic for about half an hour:( So I got some better pictures of scenery:)

Crisp Autumn leaves

It's hard to capture height, but this was SOOOOOO high.

We ate supper on a large boulder jutting out, which gave us an excellent view of the river. {So sorry I didn't remember to get a photo of the rock:(}

Daddy is not to old to be climbing trees!

After our picnic supper, we went down to see the river.

Another rock.. the scenery there was so pretty. Alayna was clapping about something. {I don't remember what:}

The water is much more murky than the photo betrays.

There was all sorts of interesting {and non interesting} pieces of junk and driftwood.

We walked along a very narrow path with a huge rock looming over us. Mama said it reminds her of one of the parts in Pilgrim's Progress... Me too!

After our hike, we climbed the 150 foot fire tower, {which was in the park} to watch the moon rise! We were also able to see the last moments of the sun setting too...

I had to use my flash to capture the moment up there. It got chilly, and the wind was blowing pretty hard, so we all hunkered down on the floor, until the moment when the...............

....moon rose! The picture DEFINITELY doesn't do it justice! The moon was full, and brilliant orange.

 Homeward Bound!

On our way home, we all agreed that the trip was just the right length. We had a VERY blessed time with our grandparents, relatives, and friends, but it was time to go home, and we knew it.

My family was soooo glad to have us back! They were jumping up and down, and talking a mile a minute!

{Part two.} In Kentucky!

After breakfast, we went to see Uncle Steve and Aunt Joann, at their work place... {Uncle Steve is PaPa's brother.} This was also a surprise!

Daddy grilling chicken for Friday nights supper... It was marinated in Grandmother's SCRUMPTIOUS {and famous} marinade.

While he was grilling... We girls were playing "Corn Hole" with PaPa. {I was not waving, if you look closely you can see the blue bag in the air that I had just thrown:}

This is a hilarious game... Aunt Diana and Farrah ARE NOT crying... they are laughing super hard!

 Saturday...

On Saturday, we went to see our friends the Joneses. They live in Indiana, about one hour from Grandmother and PaPa..

Autumn is a breath of fresh air!

And.................. the Joneses store! Daddy said {not out of partiality} after coming out, that it was the nicest store he's ever seen!

There is a very large selection of hardware items down there... very convenient for those that would rather not drive a long way to the nearest Lowes {or any other hardware store:}

Back upstairs... This sign cracks me up... because tomorrow NEVER comes!

There were LOTS of marbles

Mrs. Jones took us back to the kitchen and  showed us there set up. It was amazing to hear how God provided so many things they needed through people giving, or for very cheap.

This is one of my favorite things in the store...

We ate lunch there and Mrs. Jones came and talked with us as much as she could, but would have to get up often because of the ever flowing tide of customers rolling in. We had a blessed time there, and hope to go up next year with everyone! Stay tuned for part three, which I'll try to post soon.
